A Little About Cincinnati
Cincinnati is located in southwestern Ohio and is situated in the hills of the Ohio River Valley. It is the third largest city in the state. Cincinnati has several Fortune 500 companies and a diverse roster of other businesses, thus creating a globally aware community, solid and comfortable neighborhoods, strong families, and well-rounded individuals.
Cincinnati has been a pioneer city in many respects. In 1850 it was the first city in the United States to establish a Jewish Hospital and to publish greeting cards; in 1853 the city was the first in America to establish a municipal fire department; and in 1880 Cincinnati built and owned it's own railroad, became an essential railway between the east and west.
The Cincinnati Red Stockings later became the Cincinnati Reds, and subsequently became the world's first professional team in 1869. Also "The Sons of Daniel Boone" began in 1905 and later became known as The Boy Scouts of America.
The city has its share of nicknames, one of which the "Queen of the West" refers to its history as an important port for the Underground Railroad which helped slaves escape from the South in pre-Civil War times.
